It seems like forever since I've written anything here. I've been having alot of trouble accessing this sight and my blog. Hopefully things are fixed now.
Since my last post things have really started moving along with the adoption. We finished our homestudy, sent it to our agency and our SW sent it to INS. Now it's just a waiting game. We have been told that the Columbus office gets thru the paperwork really fast. Sometimes in as little as 2 weeks. We are hoping to have our approval by the end of September.
Everyday our daughter says "Did we get the picture yet?" I think it is so hard for a 7 year old to understand why it takes so long to do this. It's hard for us to understand why this process takes so long and we're almost 40. We just have to keep telling ourselves that it takes 9 full months to have a baby, so we need to have patience if it takes that long or longer to adopt one.
The only thing we can do while we wait for our referral is continue to remodel(this is a never-ending job) and start shopping for things to go in the babies room. Our daughter will be sharing a room with the new baby and she is so excited about it. We have been discussing paint colors and if we will need a crib or a toddler bed(we are requesting a child around 2 yrs of age).
I believe in Vietnam the children stay in a crib for as long as possible and then sleep on a mat on the floor as they get older. I hope she will adapt well to a real bed. Only time will tell.......
This is one of my favorite quotes:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
